Flatten and Tighten Your Tummy
We all want a flat, firm, and tight abdomen. But despite our best efforts, “life” tends to get in the way of that goal. You’ve heard of a “tummy tuck”. The medical name for this procedure is abdominoplasty. And the results are often very impressive.
Board-certified San Antonio plastic surgeon, Dr. Ramon Garza III, has the skills, training, and experience necessary to make your San Antonio tummy tuck a rousing success! Dr. Garza is also an excellent listener and has dedicated his practice to boosting his patients’ health, appearance, and happiness.
Reveal Smooth Contours
A “tummy tuck” or, abdominoplasty, is an aesthetic surgical procedure designed to improve the contour, shape, firmness, and appearance of your abdomen. For many people, diet and exercise alone are insufficient to get the look they want. A tummy tuck can make a world of difference.
Flatten & Firm Your Tummy
A tummy tuck can combat stretched, loose skin and restore the loss of muscle tone that often result from childbirth, weight gain, or aging. Additionally, your San Antonio tummy tuck can:
Most women—and men—who are in good general health can seek abdominoplasty. Non-smokers who have a stable body weight are preferred candidates. If you plan to lose a large amount of weight or become pregnant, you should delay abdominoplasty. People who have diabetes or heart disease may be disqualified.
This “tummy tuck” procedure surgically removes excess abdominal skin and fat. The remaining skin is then repositioned to achieve a more toned appearance. Your doctor will also tighten your abdominal muscles to create a tauter “core.”
Dr. Ramon Garza III chose the practice of medicine as his profession because of his life-long desire to help his fellow human beings. His goal is always to enhance his patients’ health and enjoyment of life. Learn more by scheduling a consultation today.
A CollaborativeApproach
Communication is the key. Come prepared with questions about any parts of your preparation, procedure, recovery, and results. Dr. Garza will provide you with complete answers so that you can enter each phase of your treatment with confidence. You will need to provide your full medical history, including all surgeries. And fully disclose any medications you are taking or have taken recently. Dr. Garza will examine your abdomen and may take pictures for your medical record. You may be asked to undergo lab tests such as a complete blood panel.
What to Expect
If you smoke, you will need to stop well before your tummy tuck surgery and throughout your recovery. You will be directed to suspend the use of any supplements or medications — such as aspirin, that can promote bleeding. Abdominoplasty is done in a hospital or a surgical facility, and generally takes between two and five hours. You will be under general anesthesia. Many patients can go home later on the day of their surgery, but in some cases, your doctor may require you to spend a night in the hospital.
Your Path to Exquisite Results
It is vitally important that you meticulously follow the recovery instructions provided by your doctor. While the healing process varies from person to person, you’ll need to take it easy for at least two weeks, with no lifting, bending, or straining.
After that, you can gradually increase your activity as directed by your doctor. It may take up to six months to fully realize your results, but you will achieve a flatter, smoother and firmer abdomen and will have more confidence in your appearance.
While anyone who is in good health can get a tummy tuck, patients who are in their late thirties and early forties make up a large portion of abdominoplasty patients. Most patients who have had prior pregnancies or weight loss that leaves behind excess skin are ideal candidates for surgery.
Abdominoplasty leaves a scar that spans the lower abdomen. The scar is low enough to be concealed by a bikini or many undergarments. Garza minimizes incisions and locates them such that your scars will be virtually unnoticeable to the world.
That is at least partially determined by personal preference as to how low or high you want it. If you have had a C-section, Dr. Garza may be able to utilize your existing scar to incorporate your abdominoplasty scar. Dr. Garza uses a technique to create a natural-looking belly button, which is often (in its absence) the telltale sign of a tummy tuck.
Most women lose two to three dress sizes, while men will lose several inches off their pants sizes. While it’s important to remember that a tummy tuck is not a weight-loss procedure, most patients drop about five pounds.
No. The surgically removed fat cells cannot return.
Barring large fluctuations in weight, tummy tuck results are typically permanent.
People who have a BMI over 30 will not benefit from a tummy tuck.
Abdominoplasty carries no risk factors for pregnancy or childbirth. But pregnancy can impact your aesthetic results.
Liposuction removes fat cells, while a tummy tuck also tightens muscles and removes excess skin. Liposuction can be used to help remove “stubborn” fatty areas around the abdomen and in other areas of the body.
Since it is considered an aesthetic procedure, insurance will not cover the cost of a tummy tuck.
That will depend on the technique used in your surgery. Discuss San Antonio tummy tuck costs with Dr. Garza upon your initial consultation.
