Rebecca was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and raised in San Antonio, Texas. She graduated from The University of Texas with a bachelor's degree in psychology in 2009. Rebecca then went on to complete her Physician Assistant studies at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
During her educational journey she found her passion for surgery and working in the operating room. In 2014, she began her professional career in facial plastics and then moved into the world of breast reconstruction and body plastics. Rebecca is very excited to be a part of the team here at Dr. Garza Plastic Surgery. She is honored to be involved in your breast reconstruction journey and happy to assist in your cosmetic goals.
Meet RebeccaHeather Waggoner, MSN, RN is the office manager and lead nurse for Dr. Garza Plastic Surgery.
A native of San Antonio, Texas, Heather graduated from Health Careers High School, and attended nursing school at Galen for her LVN and Baptist School of Health Professionals for her RN, both while she worked full time for a plastic and reconstructive surgery practice. She attended the University of Texas at Arlington, completing her BSN in 2019 and her MSN in Administration in 2021, where she graduated with honors and was inducted into both The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.
Heather has worked extensively in breast oncology for over 20 years, with the last five years as a breast oncology nurse navigator. In this role, Heather worked with patients from breast cancer diagnosis through treatment and into survivorship by providing support, education, and helping to remove barriers to care. During her time as a breast oncology nurse navigator, Heather was awarded the Sarah Cannon Compass Award, which is awarded to navigators who consistently go above and beyond in their duties to help their patients. She is nationally certified as a Certified Navigator-Breast Nurse through the National Consortium of Breast Centers.
Heather is very passionate about working with breast cancer patients both within a reconstructive, as well as a community, setting. She is a Board member of Overcomers: Daughters of the King of Kings where she is also the Director of the Pink Under the Tree program. She is excited to join Dr. Garza Plastic Surgery, where she has the opportunity to continue working with breast oncology and cosmetic patients, as well as an amazing team who is passionate about patient care.
